GTM that compounds
A go-to-market motion that gets better without getting bigger — which requires that results come back in, and almost nowhere do they.
One question, and it is the whole page:
What did your go-to-market learn last quarter, and where is that written down?
For almost every company the honest answer is nothing and nowhere. Not through carelessness — there is simply no place for it to land.
How this usually works
- Point tools, each doing its job in a silo.
- Results — what ranked, what converted, what a prospect actually objected to — land nowhere.
- Next quarter starts from the same place as this one.
Where it actually hurts
Step two, invisibly. Steps one and three are felt. Step two is not, because nothing happens when a result fails to be recorded — there is no error, no gap in a report, no moment where anyone notices.
That is why this rarely gets fixed. It is not a problem anyone experiences; it is a problem people experience the consequences of, a quarter later, as a suspicion that they are working hard and standing still.
Why the usual fix does not hold
More tools, better tools, and more people all raise output. None of them changes whether anything is learned, because none of them has anywhere to put a lesson. A company can double its content volume and end the year knowing exactly what it knew at the start.
How it works instead
A shared store of what the company has decided. Agents that read it before they write. A person at the gate. Measurement that writes the result back into the store, so the next action is informed by the last one.
The process change
Outcomes have to come back in, which means things have to be published and measured.
A company that ships nothing has nothing to learn from, and this is the one requirement that cannot be absorbed by a vendor on the customer's behalf.
Frequently asked
- We already have an AI writing tool. Is this not the same thing?
- Ask what happens to the output afterward. If nothing reads what converted and nothing changes because of it, the tool is a faster way to produce the same quality forever. The gap is the loop, not the drafting.
- How is this different from a style guide or a knowledge base?
- Provenance and the commit path. It records how confident the company is in each assertion and who decided it, and outcomes are written back into it. A knowledge base is read; this is also written to, and only by people.
- Sounds like a big setup.
- It is. The setup is a paid engagement rather than a trial, because populating the store and encoding the repeatable work is genuinely the hard part and doing it badly produces a system that confidently repeats your mistakes.
What you have to accept
Outcomes have to come back in. A company that publishes nothing has nothing to learn from.
